XIED's and pinging
I have a 2012 Ultra. Decatted stock headpipe, Bassani slip ons, stock air cleaner. Been saving up for a powervision. Recently had to dip into that. Looks like I won't get the powervision until next riding season. Currently I have XIED's on the bike. When it's hot outside (anything 90 degrees and above) the bike pings like crazy between 27000 and 3000 RPM's ( right where I like to ride). I was wondering if maybe I replaced the xied's with the adjustable VIED's if this would solve the pinging problem. I have read on here that in order to stop the pinging that the ignition timing would need to be retarded slightly in that RPM range in order to solve this problem. If had the VIED's where I could richen up the A/F ratio a little more would this solve the pinging problem (solving the problem another way) I can afford the VIED's now, but I will have to wait awhile on the powervision. I need some feedback regarding this issue. I think I already know the answer (wait in the powervision). But the pinging is driving me crazy.

Could you afford the Vance & Hines FP3 now. You can get one on line for $299 and free shipping. It will do just account anything the PV2 will do. I'm very happy with mine.
Edit: I just realized your talking about a 2012. The FP3 isn't an option for you.

I was told that Xieds were just non adjustable Vieds, set to ten. But a simple call to Nightrider would confirm this. If you're having that much of an issue with Xieds, my guess is Vieds won't be your solution. But please take my advice with a grain of salt. I am a true amateur, but have had good success with my Vieds.
