Default What Luggage Rack

I have to buy a luggage rack for the t-bag I am purchasing for road trips my wife and I are taking, and which one is about to drive me crazy. Looking at the detachable sissy bar luggage rack, and the detachable 2up luggage rack.

Any opinions or guidance would be much appreciated.

I have the 2-up Luggage Rack (53743-97). It works great and will hold lots of weight. The install was pretty easy (since I was able to to it) and it's nice being able to take it off whenever I want to.

I already had the detachable passenger backrest, so my decision was easy.

I've gotthe stealth luggage rack on order (53938-04) backordered by harley till 5/15. I like it for my SG because it replaces the fender rail and doesn't put all the weight of the tour pak on the detachable backrest. It looks cool too, but is not quick detach.

Retired as a Captain, from Piedmont Fire Department, still work as an EMT and I am still a Fire Service Instructor and EMT Instructor, and do many other numerous things. I work for an insurance company as an adjuster and the automobile underwrighter, I own my own Insurance Agency, a Tan and Tone and a Java Dave's Coffee shop.

I am looking at 2 different routes now with this luggage rack. If I do a t-bag I will buy the ultra tour by bikers friend. I have seen an after market tour pack from another member that looks good, and buy the looks of it, I think I can mount it to the removable luggage rack and take it on and off and not have to worry about things getting wet.

Any opinions on the tour pack?

I put the detachable backrest and rack on my road king. After installing it, I noticed that it had a 10 lb max weight. I understand the need for proper balance, but the luggage I will be putting on it would weigh around 20-25 lbs. Will this work?i.e. that isa caution forweight relative to center of gravity. Is there some other arrangement I need?

It is a CYA thing from HD, I have had at least 40lbs in my t-bag on that rack..... you'll be ok, just load the heavier stuff lower.

The 10lb label is for safety regarding how the bike may handle with the extra weight up there, not the support weight rating for the rack.

I have been using the rack on the detachable sissy bar for thousands of miles. My T-Bag usually weighs about 60 lbs, especially when the OL goes with me. I really can't tell it's back there.
