Default Noise analysis

I want to share two short videos, in which you can hear two noises, I`m dealing with since last year.
Bike is an Ultra Classic 2009 with 40k miles on it, still original battery.

#1 http://vid444.photobucket.com/albums...vnov/Start.mp4

- occurs only, if engine is hot
- pulling the clutch seems to help a little bit
- has become worse in the last months

#2 http://vid444.photobucket.com/albums...v/Anfahren.mp4

- occurs only in 1st gear, if I´m engaging the clutch with too little
revs (especially two up)

Second one sounds like the compensator.

No idea on the first one. Could not hear anything really.

I second the compensator issue in the second video. My 09 Ultra sounded like a diesel motor every time I started from a stop before I changed the compensator at 30K. 47K on her now and still quiet. Can't comment on the first video.

I agree with lp, #2 compensator. #1 I don't hear anything unusual.

The videos have been taken in an underground car park, so the noise in#1 is hard to hear.
I'm a little bit concerned about the the number of the attempts to get the engine started (four or five). It sounds like a sprocket in the starting system does not engage properly.
Perhaps a weak battery, which has not enough power to crank the engine?

Try staying on the starter a little longer.

Literally, Compensator again.
A super worn/broke or loose comp will kick back and surge the primary chain while the engine is trying to start resulting in weird timing/spark and bad follow through (complete solid revolution).
Too much of this and the starter clutch gets destroyed etc.

I mean it could be something else, but you should pop your primary cover and take a look anyway.

Compensator along with original what has to be weak and needing repl 6.5yr + old battery too.

If you go for a new battery check out these sources because even with shipping to you in another country i bet you would still save considerably $$ if you have the time to wait for the battery since current battery still starts the bike.

Here ya go,some of the best prices on upgraded more powerful Maint free fact activated AGM stock type batteries.

Stock HD repl fact act mant free AGM battery is 385cca at a whopping $180+.

These same type maint free fact activayed agm batteries are higher output @ 400cca , 500cca & 600cca at $20 , $70 to as much as $100 less for a quality Deka 400cca AGM battery then hd's lower output repl battery.

See below links for details.

If you decide to install an upgraded SE compensator also install GMR's compensaver at the same time too .

It specificaiclly designed to direct oil onto the compensator to extend its srv'c life and only works with HD compensator but Bakers new design compensator so keep that in mind.

Hers a link to it.

BTW,i installed HD's se comp kits along with gmr's compensaver on my 09 flhtcu and its been good thus far with 6,500miles on that setup.
