Default Dunlop Elite 3 vs American Elite

I have now ridden both tires on my bike for a good while. I can safely say I prefer the Elite 3s to the American Elite tires on my 07. The Elite 3s have a much more planted feel to the as compared to the American Elites "lively" ride quality. We'll see how mileage goes on the American Elites. I have about 1500 miles on them right now so it will be a while before I know how they wear.

I do feel the "lively" tendencies of the AE tires and excess movement at highway speeds. Mileage is great so far. 1st rear 13k, second rear at 5k now, front still looks great at 18k. Might try the E3's next if your mileage looks good. Keep us posted.

I have ridden two full sets of the E3s. I thought I would give the AEs a try. I'm definitely going back to the E3s.

I have 8400 miles on my rear E3 and closest to the center is at 5/32, outside is at 6/32. Very happy with the wear so far. This is my 2nd set, first ones were on a metric.

I am running an E3 on the front and an American Elite on the rear. Only because that's how my replacement cycle ended up. I love the AE on the rear, so far great mileage and awesome in the corners. I've got about six thousand miles on the rear. This is my second E3 on the front. The first started to give me some wobble at around sixteen thousand miles. other than that an awesome tire also. JR

I found I prefer the E3s to the AEs. Much more planted feeling and as Blowby said the AE is just too lively at high speed.

So lively I'm worried about getting pulled over for drunk driving at times.

I noticed it a few days ago. I thought man my rear end is moving around. Then yesterday I kept thinking my rear tire was low. I'll run these out but I won't buy them again.

I had E3's on my Heritage. Those were like ice in the rain. Never again. I have my third set of AE's on my 14 Limited and I love them (two sets on my current Limited and one set on my prior 2013 RGU). No issues in any kind of weather, very responsive and I average 20K per set. I will continue with the AE's.

Interesting, I have always felt very planted with the E3s. I don't care for these AEs.
