stage 1 with stock pipes
I just brought bike back to the dealer because of not running right, said that the cobra tuner previous owner installed was bad. I tried to get them to install a power commander but would only do a stage 1 download instead, on there dime. On ride home it doesn't have the power and decal pops worse than before, I'm wondering if I throw the stock pipes on a try it to see if I have more low mid power and less decal pops, I'm thinking maybe my rush pipes baffles are large enough to act like drag pipes. Any ideas. I also noticed more vibration in 3rd around town. I'm about done with this, go back to a carb 1200 sportster.

I had a 2007 sportster that had the stage 1 download with rush pipes and popped all the time when I got it. I put xieds from nightrider.com and it ran perfect. You might try some of those or find a cheap used tuner to replace the faulty cobra tuner and see if it runs better. I've had a fuelpak on 2 different bikes and really like the way they run with the fuelpak. My current fuelpak I found on the classifieds here for $100.

The EFI bikes are infinitely more tunable than the old carb bikes. When properly tuned, they will run excellent...!!
Problem is, more people think they know how to tune, than actually have the skill.....
If the dealer diagnosed your problem correctly (bad cobra tuner), and switched you to an HD download, then you are running lean (as mentioned).
MGS is one of the knowledgeable vendors on this site. (Fuelmoto is another that is highly respected). You could take up MGS on his sale price on the PC-5 and, as he said, you're bike would run much better. Or you can call another good vendor and get their opinions.
If you plan on changing the bike mods along the way, like to tinker, or want to play with/learn about the EFI technology... you could get a PowerVision tuner.
You can start with a good map, do some auto tunes, and have fun learning as you get the bike dialed in....
I used to be OK at reading plugs, changing jets, setting up carbs... but I am just learning about this EFI technology and find it fascinating.....
Good luck, you'll get it dialed in....
