Default Wheelbase of 1971 Electra Glide?

Maybe wrong forum, as I'm a bit of a noob on the HD nomenclature, not sure if I should be posting in the Shovel head forum?

I'm going to look at a 1971 Electra Glide this week a distance away, and if the deal works, trailer it home.

My trailer bed is 72" long- -will it fit? I suppose I could gain a few inches going diagonal on the bed if it was longer than 72".

I can find specs on "length" of newer bikes, but the wheelbase is whats important....as long as the tires are on the bed, I can get it home, even if some tire/fender/etc is longer than my bed and extends over.

Thanks!

Newer bikes are shorter than that '71 Glide. As it is a shovel you may get a quicker and more accurate response in that section.

I think it's around 63" but with the wheel and fender in front of the forward axle, 6 ft of bed length won't cut it unless you can load the bike diagonally in an open trailer and the front fender is above the side rails. (No way if the trailer is enclosed.)

With the tailgate down it will fit but a piece of plywood ( length of bed and tailgate ) would be an advised addition
