Default In the middle of Monkey Bar install. I have some Questions.

I am in the middle of swapping a set of Yaffe 12" bars on my 12 SG. I am removing the HD mini apes. As a result I have to swap brake lines and clutch cable. Here is where the first problem is coming up.

I cannot get the #$*&^ cable to thread into the housing. I have the cover on the bench and it simply will not thread in. It is the same thread as the OEM cable. Any tips on this? It is flat whipping me.

Second question. When I bought the HD Mini Apes they came with Riser bushings that look to be aluminum. I did not swap them on the last install but am now wondering if I should this time. The bushings do not fit tight into the tree like the OE rubber ones. Is that correct? I cannot push them and they stay on their own.

Thanks in advance.

Threads are easily buggered up on the clutch housing. Case the threads with a tap to clean them up and you should be good.

You don't need to chase the threads you just need to hold your mouth just right to get it started. I have went as far as hanging the clutch cable from above to get all the twists out of it so it would free up and could twist the cable easier with my fingers. It threads in at an odd angle.

I would use the solid bushings that came with the mini apes. I used them with mini apes and kst mayhems. The solid bushings takes all the slack out.

Most people switch to poly bushings. The aluminum are going to make the bars solid mounted to the triple tree. That's going to transfer all the vibrations straight through the bars. With poly, you still get some vibration dampening.

You'd be surprised how much better the solid bushings are. It doesn't transfer the vibration like you think it would.

When I switched out the cable on my '08 Night Train, trying to thread that into the cover kicked my a$$ too. I chased threads and still due to the weird angle in how it threads in made it stupid difficult. Took a while and a lot of frustration to get that thing to grab the threads. I feel your pain dude...
