Can I replace an 05' 88 with a 13' 103?
Think I fragged a cam bearing on my 05' 88 with 128K on it.
Found a 2013 103" engine. The big question is, if I were to try it would everything like the intake, tranny and such line up. I'm sure compensator would need to be replaced but would all primary parts fit?
It's a Road King by the way.

The only way to use the newer style motor in your frame would be to replace the motor, Primary and trans from a 07-08 model year bike.

I actually talked to the Harley Davidson guys. They said the 103 would mount in the frame alright but all primary parts, ECM and wiring harness would have to be replaced. I never looked at the differences but apparently the sensors and connectors are different. They said the transmission would line up. Thr one guy was at the opinion that a five speed is better than a six. I guess maybe if I was racing around the back roads, but I am a touring guy. He said the upgrades and all the other tweeks to put that engine on my bike would not be very cost effective.
I'm going to open up the cam chest and take a look in there to see what's going on before I make a decision to repair or replace.
