Default Roadglide To Roadking

I just love the Roadking. First bike I ever had. First bike I ever rode.

I ended up with my buddys 04 roadglide. Needed a lot of work. Now here I am turning into a Roadking. Its not like I had enough work on my hands.

Stripped the whole bike down. I know Ill need a new harness and such. Figured better to start from scratch.

This is my first official tear down and build. Im excited and I love turning a wrench. Hopefully all goes well.

Wish I took more pics of when I first got it. So far the frame is powdercoated, wheels, most of the trim.

On my to get list.

RK Main Harness
RK tank
Nacelle
Headlight

That's off the top of my head. Anything else please help me out.
My plan is to put the whole bike together minus drivetrain and have the guy that's building my motor install the motor and tranny. He wanted to install the motor to begin with.

A pic when started getting deep.

parts that are getting powdercoated

bars that were on it. My buddy is 6'6 I think they are 22 inch bars. Replaced with some 16 pullbacks.

Stripped down

Sold all of the Roadglide stuff

Frame from the powercoat shop. 2 stage.

Wheels done in black. Plan on doing the whole motor black also. No chrome. wheels are 21 18

Looking good there. I "converted" a Road Glide to Road King using only the wiring from the Road Glide harness that I needed in order to make it into a Road King. Since it was a salvage , the only place I 'cheated' was on the custom speedo installation where the fork lock used to be. Yours will be considerably cleaner I'm sure.

I have a tank off of my 01 Road King with a minor dent. Has the gauge, panel and 61 circa badges. I went to 7 gallon after bike was ran into a guardrail. You shouldn't have a problem getting some coin for your fairing.

Got most of the parts back from powdercoat. Now im trying to find a bolt kit. A black bolt kit. Im going to start with the rear of the bike and work my way forward. Does anyone sell a kit or do I have to piece by piece it.

I was looking into bigger gas tanks but cant find anything. Most of the stuff is for newer bikes.

16 inch cardova handlebars
