Looking at purchasing a used Limited from a private party. He has a 5 year extended warranty on the bike. Can anyone explain how you go about transferring this warranty over for a new owner?

 

Call the warranty company?

 

If I remember correctly, I called the warranty company, filled out a form,both parties signed..made a copy for each person to keep and sent it in..I got a confirmation form HD. It was very simple and they were very helpful.

 

If it's the standard one H-D uses, it's really just a phone call and some paper work.

Thanks guys. I am picking the bike up on Wednesday night. I will print and bring the PDF that Vernal provided.

 

This... Only I didn't know about the extended plan on the Limited I bought until I found the info in the tour pack when I got the bike home. Local dealer explained it to me, gave me the paperwork, and I sent the original owner the form to sign.

But.... The original purchaser could tell you to pound sand and they could receive a refund from that warranty instead of giving it to you. Which is why it doesn't transfer with the bike like the 2 year factory warranty does.
