Default Derby cover gasket

i pulled my cover to change fluid and adjust clutch. was surprised by the gasket. i have never saw this before. anyone else ever use this style? seems to seal well and was undamaged so i reassembled and reused it. i have always had the normal orange gasket that sits in the cover. see attached pix

That's what was on mine when I purchased it. Changed it over to the normal derby style gasket. Never had a issue with the other.

I think that gasket is available from HD, so it may not always be "aftermarket." It's for use with non-standard derby covers that do not include the groove found in oem covers, which is needed for the orange rubber gasket.

Default Derby Gasket

My 2011 Roady uses an orange colored rubber gasket that fits in a recessed groove in the derby cover. Can't tell from your pics if it is the same as mine. It fits in the stock 103 cover. I went to the dealer, the other day, and ask about buying one and they gave me about 7-8 of them. Seems the mechanics order the oils change service kits and it come with the stock orange o-ring gasket and then they order the cardboard round one.

i have stock cover and has groove for the orange gasket but not one installed. this gasket is not a cardboard material, its a rubberish material, and is stuck to the primary very securely.

yup. that.

I don't care for them much, but the one time I have used it on a friends bike that has to have use it, it has worked well.

I have done the periodic clutch adjustments at the required intervals for over 77,000 miles and have only replaced one of the factory style orange silicone rubber gaskets. The do seem to "grow" slightly over time and become more difficult to get back into the derby cover groove but have never had one leak. They do what they are supposed to do over and over again. No complaints here.

Bought two of the flat gaskets for my EG and wifes Street. Dealer said they're better and will work on stock cover or custom covers. Wife has custom cover mine is stock. Hers had the flat mine had the rubber ring. I took the ring off mine and used the flat.
Ever use the flat disk shape gasket on stock cover?
