Default 2000 FLHRCI fuel tank

I'm looking to replace my gas tank on my 2000 FLHRCI. I've looked at a 1998 FLHRCI tank which looks the same as both tanks are fuel injected tanks. After looking up part numbers 98 & 00 are different part numbers yet look the same.Is this due to the difference in years or part number changes from year to year? Thank's

1998 FI Road King has a different fuel injection system than 1999-onwards. I don't know if that means a different internal fuel pump, you might want to make sure .

Consider going to the Ronnies harley davidson microfiche.
Look at your year and the option available to you.
Then compare internals and other "fit" part numbers.

They are one in the same. Frame is the same. Fuel lines, and check valves are the same. Part number difference is probably due to paint.

Look at the Ronnies Microfiche online, there are differences.
It might be better to change over to the '99 and older tank. Aftermarket has parts available, filters, lines.
The '00-'01 parts are getting harder to find. A lot of the parts have been discontinued, obsolete in MOCO talk.

There is a very big different output connector on the 2001,for sure.
As we needed to replace the gas tank on our RK, after it was
totaled. We were luck to find one in black. It was not a problem
to pick up the fenders in black and we had the leather bags off a
08 RKC.
We diid have to pay top dollar for the new tank, because the guy
knew what he had...... hope this helps, good luck.............tenn.

i thought the difference from 99 and older tanks is it had metal fuel lines inside the tank and in 2000 they use the plastic fuel lines , might be why there is a part number difference that ends with -00
