stock air cleaner over screamin eagle

I believe I am running the same as what the OP is referring too. You have the stage one, but just want to cover it with the stock chrome football cover. Don't hurt mine one bit. The entire back side is open. You will get plenty of air. It is the stock backer plate that seals to the football so the engine has to breath through that little hole that is restrictive. So put your cover one and your fine as long as the stock backer plate has been replaced with the stage one backer plate.

When I replaced my stock AC with the SE AC, I did notice more noise, but only at wide open throttle. I didn't really notice much of anything at idle, and I have stock mufflers.
There was a lot of plastic around the stock air cleaner that will definitely make it quieter. I remember that the stock AC had a large scoop at the front that should provide all the air you can use.

jaxdwg, I loved the sound of the Quadrajet as well. Had a 66 Pontiac grand parisienne two door with a little 327 double humped mill and a 2 speed automatic. Did some nasty work to it with a good 3\4 cam. Stall speed was almost 2000 which taught me well how to drive with both feet on the pedals. The two speed wasn't much off the line but with that four barrel roaring, I could hit 95 mph before shifting into high and the sun tach on the dash would bounce off of 7000. Those were the days but im not into that kind of sound today from a touring bike. I just want to hear the pipes without breaking my eardrums or local noise restrictions lol.

A little different point:
I took delivery of my bike with stage one and SEAC with the stock cover and RC Xhaust Slip ons and I did not notice excessive sucking noise. What did bug me was the air filter had stamped on it "DO NOT OIL". With some blowby oil getting on the filter, why would they use this kind of filter?
I later went with the A/N Big Sucker with their "Million Mile" Air Filter (That looks K/N to me) that you clean and oil from time to time. It's under my stock air cover, all is well, no excessive noise. I have always ran my oil level between the marks on the stick, no problem at all as blowby is minimal.
Just the thought of it bugged me, but no more...
