Mean City Cycles - Seat Mod. Happy Customer
#31
UPDATE after a ride....
Well, the weather cooperated so I was able to get out for a ride for the first time since I had the seat done. I did about 380 miles and the seat felt great. I didn't feel cramped at all. It is a firmer feel than the original, but still very comfortable. Never got any sore spots and tailbone not an issue either. I think this mod will serve me well on my long rides. I really like being lower in the seat. You notice it most when trying to negotiate around places like the garage and parking areas/gas stations. That extra 2 inches makes moving around much easier. Also, I can really tell that I am down further as far as the buffeting is concerned. I have the 8" Klockwerks flare windshield and I am down under the head buffeting zone now - very nice. I highly recommend this mod!

I exchanged several emails last week with Allen at MCC, and settled on the memory foam mod (driver) and passenger seat mod. Was going to go with the super narrow, but just to be safe I sent him a pic of how I sit on the bike with my feet planted. When he saw that, he recommended the memory foam mod instead and one inch lower. My build is scheduled for 16 March. That's still a month out, so even in winter it looks like they're very busy. Great folks to work with.

I got the perfect seat according to Allen which was an 08 RG seat.
I paid $150 for it, new.
I sent it to MCC had the memory foam double decker done to it and they shaved a little bit off the front end. That was like another $150 plus the shipping.
Overall wasn't very happy with it and wished I would have just kept the seat as it was.
Sold it on this forum for $175 shipped.
Guy I sold it to said he had MCC mods done before and said that he was not impressed with the seat that I sold him and was going to ask if it could be re-done.
Don't know the status of that.
Best advice I could offer is to catch MCC at a rally. Have them do the mod that you want and then ride around and use the seat for a couple days and if not happy have them tweak it for you.
That way you will more likely get what you want.
