I broke down and decided to be the guinea pig on one of these gearsets. So far it has worked out pretty good.

I bought the gearset from Eastern Performance Cycles for $699. There were a few small issues with the installation, mainly because there were no instructions. I would not use the seals that come with the tranny. I have put 1000 miles on it so far with no problems. Changed the fluid yesterday, nothing unusual there either. I am running the Redline Heavy Shockproof fluid.

It is not a Baker or SE, but a viable option for a much lower price.

 

Hey Thanks for letting us know. A friend of a friend had one installed on his Heritage as has had no issues. My only concern was that the 1st gear ratio was a little taller than the stock five speeds, but he said it was a non issue. Think I'll go with one also. I'monly half hour fromEastern and they will install it for seventeen hundred.

 

my chopper had an Acc Unl 6 on it....was a great tranny....enjoy

 

so the big difference is the gearing? curious how she stands up to built motors..... sounds like a good deal if she stays together.... im interested.....

Was there something wrong with stock one?

 

HotPursuit, E P has been putting them in thier custom bikes w/ up to 130 HP
I want the six speed to cut down the RPMs when running interstates.

 

I wanted to do the 3.37 gearing, but I also do alot of interstate riding. The 6 speed allowed me to do that and get the best of both worlds.

$1000 for the installation? Is that a fair price?

 

How oes it sound? like a normal 5-speed ? is it noisey in 6th? is it hard to find neutral?
