Default Music on the O'L Boom Box

Ok people, just traded my 2006 SG for a new 2015 SG 4.3. My question is this- can i down load my CD's to the computer and then transfer them to a flash and plug that in to the bike's usb and play them? Or is there some kind of drive within my smartphone or a i pod that the bike would need to play them.

it'll play the music directly off of your flash drive. if it is in a format supported, not sure what all it recognizes.

if you want to rip your cd's to mp3's to play, I suggest eac works great for ripping. I have my complete collection ripped as 320kb mp3s and upload/download as the mood strikes.

for purchasing mp3's, I use mp3va.com. you have to 'pre-load' your account and then it debits as you use it. they periodically have sales where tracks are .10 each, and they give you a bonus depending on how much you put in your account (I loaded $30 and they gave me a $15 bonus) look for these specials around holidays, and seasonal changes. been using them for about 5 years with no issues.

You need to "rip" them to mp3 files, I'd suggest a bit rate of 192bps.

Regular CD audio files are uncompressed and would take up too much space.

Thanks guy, just thought that would be nice way to keep it with the bike over having to plug and unplug a phone or other device all the time. And if someone decided to take it, i would only be out the cost of a stick. They would be pissed also when they found out it was all Cajun and blue grass. LMAO!!!

I have an 8 gig thumb drive hooked up has over 750 songs on it, maybe 5 gig worth. Like you said, if someone finds it, it's super easy to replace. I've got a whole handful of these thumb drives lying around.

Mine works with a flash drive full of MP3 songs, but it must be formatted with FAT32. I use a 128 gig drive, but Windows will not format a drive that large with anything but NTSF. My 4.3 will not "see" an NTSF formatted drive. To format a large drive with FAT 32 I use a freeware program called GUIFormat.

I bought an inexpensive Sansa MP3 player, years ago. Nice, because you can program your music any way you desire.
