Default Question on the y that your throttle body bolts to?

I just finished putting on a Screaming Eagle Heavy Breather on my 11 street glide. I had to lift the tank up some to get the bracket off.
My question is I noticed a metal hose pipe, barb sticking up out of the y. Is that supposed to be connected to something, or a cap on it?
Not sure if I pulled something off it when I lifted my tank.
I cant amagine it sucks in un filtered air there? Mine has nothing on it.
Thanks, Bill

Specifically known as the "Air Intake Manifold" - for those without fancy TBW.

You need the cap to cover the tube. That is unless you have a California emissions bike where it would have a hose attached running to a charcoal canister by way of a solenoid and bunch of other tubing.
