Default Sportster rear wheel on 2007 Road King?

I found a deal on a solid rear wheel from a 2005 Sportster XL1200c. Will it fit my RK?

It seems like the axels are both 1 inch and the width is identical at 3 inches.

The only thing is the Sportster has the belt and brakes on the opposite sides.. Can I just flip them, remount the tire(directional) and be good to go?

Anyone done this?

I have done this. It seemed to work, everything fit fine. But I had a catastrophic bolt failure that took out the rim before I could put 200 miles on it, so I don't know how it would hold up long term.

I seem to recall that the bolt threads on a Sporty are different thread sizes to the big twins, on the pulley side? If you like the solid disc look there are options from a FatBoy, which may be more suitable.

The bolt size and thread patterns are the same. If you'll look back through the years you'll find the same solid wheel part number on both the sporties and the fatboys. Have just recently been on this search myself for an 06 Heritage. Ended up going with the Airstrike rear from 06-07 to match the one I bought to go on the front. Yes you are correct in the fact that the wheel will run in reverse compared to what it did on the sporty but your pulley and rotor will bolt up and line up just fine.

Same, Same... the only issue you would have had would be if you used a earlier (2000-04) Rear Sporty Wheel. They use 3/4" bearings/axle/center spacer sleeve and you would have had to enlarge the center section of wheel for the larger 1"/25mm center spacer sleeve/axle.

See HERE for the similar issue, but inverse...Putting Touring wheel on Sporty (read at least several posts).

and HERE for the resolution

It would need to be from a 2000-2002 16x3 fatboy. For 2003-06 they changed the built-in offset of the 16x3 wheel
