Ok to install ohlins shocks upside down?

Dude...I am sure the answer is to put the spacers on during install to push the top of the shock out a bit away from the docking equipment....its not like its rocket science...geez....like there is some black magic to 2 bolts and 4 spacers...just ensure to try and keep the shocks as straight as possible (ie whatever spacers you add to the top, also add to the bottom) and make sure you don't push them out so far that they rub your bags if on a bagger.
If the instructions for mounting didnt suck ***** it wouldnt be a big deal...no matter where you get the shocks from.
Lets put it this way....I didnt enjoy talking to Howard. He is the way he is and some of you are fine with it. I got the feeling like I was bothering him, so I went ahead and figured out 90% of my install on my own. I have adjusted shocks on previous bikes for 20 years so how hard can a simple set of rear shocks be. Its not that difficult. Yeah, I had a few questions (whether there was a stop on the rebound adjustment, as every shock I ever owned in the past had one) but other than that, I would rather jsut figure it out on my own or research a forum for an answer provided by guys in the same exact situation.....thats how it is for every other part on my bike so why is there some black voodoo magic to shock absorbers?? Why is there some crazy secret and everyone says "Psst...Call Howard" ....its INSANE to me!! I think Ohlins likes to keep things vague, as it adds to the mystique of the shocks and keeps people coming back.....but other than that...I just dont get it.

You are not allowed to do it unless you call Howard first.

Yes as mentioned if you didn't install the spacers top and bottom that is your problem. They are a different thickness between the top and bottom as well so be sure to get them on right. My backrest goes on my Rushmore with Ohlin's installed no problem.
Edit: I just seen the post you have it fixed already...
