Default A solution for checking air in rear bagger tires

Checking the air in the rear tire of a bagger has always been a PITA, but my 2014 Road King is the worst yet. The idiot that designed the laced wheel put the valve stem so close to one of the spokes, that getting to it is almost impossible. Especially from the right side. So after lots of experimenting and ordering of various adapters, tees, fittings, hoses, etc. I've come up with a solution.

The two items you need I ordered from Amazon. First, you need this lossless 90-degree fitting:

http://www.amazon.com/Topeak-Pressure-Rite-Anti-Air-Loss-Connector/dp/B000FIAVKG/ref=sr_1_19?ie=UTF8&qid=1462124753&sr=8-19&keywords=schrader+90+degree http://www.amazon.com/Topeak-Pressure-Rite-Anti-Air-Loss-Connector/dp/B000FIAVKG/ref=sr_1_19?ie=UTF8&qid=1462124753&sr=8-19&keywords=schrader+90+degree

Second, you need this hose:

http://www.amazon.com/Wheel-Masters-82286R-Spare-Inflator/dp/B001FCE63E?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00 http://www.amazon.com/Wheel-Masters-82286R-Spare-Inflator/dp/B001FCE63E?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00

To begin, it's easier to have the right saddlebag removed and position the valve stem at 6:00. Attach the Topeak adapter to the Wheelmasters hose.

Using your left hand, fish the hose/adapter combo from the left side of the bike to as close to the valve stem as possible.

Then use your right hand to tighten the fitting onto the valve stem.

The Wheelmasters hose is long enough that you can now easily check your tire pressure and add air if needed.

The lossless Topeak fitting will let very little air out when you remove it.

I did similar, made from a cut off valve stem & a Walmart bicycle pump...

Got the idea from another member here.

Damn, an I thought mine was a PITA lol. I can screw on the HD filler hose extension easily enough unless the rotors hot then you get a nice little burn.

You can always get a 90 degree valve stem for easier access.

I finally found the perfect solution to putting air in my 2013 RK with wire wheels. I traded it in on a new SGS and now I have no problem with valve stems.

I looked at TPMS systems. The sensors are too big to fit. I probably will get 90 degree valve stems when it's time for tires.

Had that same issue with the knuckle style wheels, especially the front. I used the HD valve stem extension for that and worked fine for me. I have no issues now since I changed my wheels.
