with a Harley- there are no absolutely correct quantities.

the manuals always spec a visual/ dipstick measurement

seems you always end up with a 1/2 bottle extra...for the next time

Just drain out about 12 oz. and recheck. If you don't, it'll blow out of that 'U' shaped vent hose (particularly when its cold.)

yes ...i would ....cut open the side of an empty qt of oil ...make sure it clean and screw the top on ...use to drain the oil in ...then measure out 22-24 oz's ...and put back in ....too much oil and it will blow out the vent tube on top of trans...run down near the front pulley and look like a seal leak ...the vent tube is just behind the inner primary cover ...rubber tube bent in a "u" shape ...

Just curious, why is the tranny your first fluid change? Engine oil is 5k, primary is 10k and tranny is 20k.
