Default 12" Yaffe Bars / Clutch cable

Need to replace my clutch cable with my 12" Yaffe bars. Can't recall if I need to go +6 or +8

Probably going to go with Magnum this time around.

If it's anything like a Rushmore, you don't need to replace it. Remove the hand control, open the plastic routing tree on the frame. Move the line for the clutch to the top and the others down. Route it carefully along the outside of the glovebox. Reinstall the cover with some black zip ties, easy day.

You need to replace it. I did + 8. I wanted it routed the same as it was from factory. I don't think you could with a + 6.

Yeah, I think I got the hang of it. I rerouted it slightly and adjusted "by the book". I may play with it a few more times. Seating the screw at the clutch basket is kind of subjective, "just barely touch" and back it out. I went half a turn seems to engage about 1/4 to 1/2 so seems in spec.

Also reached out via PM to several members and it seems the consensus is to lube the Magnum cable with a silicone based lube.

Lubing was gonna be my next suggestion. However I feel with a brand new cable that shouldn't be necessary. Doesn't mean anything though these days.

So much for the cable not needing to be lubed. Used s silicone based lube and it made a world of difference. Smooth as silk.

I lube mine once a month. You wouldn't think you'd need to lube a brand new cable. Glad you got it smoothed out.

I changed my clutch cable from the original post to a sterling chromite so I lubed it off the bike. How do you do it while installed? Unhook at the clutch lever and spray it down?

I bought one of those motion pro cable lubers. Didn't work like the videos. At least with magnum cables.
