Default 2012 Ultra Limited Exhaust Suggestions

Bought a 2012 Ultra Limited this past month from and older gentlemen who left the bike bone stock. Looking for suggestions on exhaust options. I was looking at RC Components. If you have them, how do you like them?

My suggestion is call Fuel Moto and discuss a tuner, head pipe, mufflers and air cleaner.

Probably thousands of threads on here about this subject and may I suggest that you do a search on exhaust and you could read along time on this subject. Now with that being said, I'd knock the cat out and get a set of Rush Mufflers with the 2.25" baffles or some Rineharts and take it to a good tuner and use he's choice of device as long as it's a Power Vision , (just my suggestion there) and get it properly tuned and you'll be glad you did.

Also kinda depends on what sound you're looking for. I wanted the deep rumble from the larger 4" pipes so I went with the V&H blackout rounds (basically blacked out monster rounds). Also went with their power duals head pipes (prior to that I had a de-catted stock head pipe. I already had a stage one air breather and and PV from FM.

shortly after that I had the woods triple deuce cams installed with a new PV tune from FM.

I got exactly what I was looking for from this set-up.

Hope that helps a little.

I went from stock to Rush Tru-Duals (ceramic coated), then finally to Rush Big Louie's. I've found the sweet spot with my current set-up. Also agree with the others regarding finding a good tuner and mate your set-up with a good engine management system.

On my 2012 (I traded it for my 2014) I had Vance and Hines true dials and the EPA compliant monster ovals. Got rid of a lot of heat with the new pipes, still made a good low sound I town, but quieted right down on the highway so you didn't have to listen to it drone for 500 miles.

There's nothing as subjective as seats and exhausts.....

There are pros & cons to the various exhausts out there in terms of ultimate performance. But if you are going to just change the exhaust or a stage I; A/C, exhaust, tune.... the differences are not going to be that big. You will eventually select based on heat (CAT or No Cat), and sound....

It's hard to tell from videos, and everybody hears something different. Go to a couple bike meets and listen for yourself.... You're sure to hear something that catches your "ears"....

FWIW... on my '12 Limited, I've got a Stage II; A/C, cams, exhaust, tune. I have the Fuelmoto 2-1-2 ceramic coated head pipe and Screamin' Eagle slip-ons. Cooler without the cat, and a deeper sound than OEM without being too loud or droning... but that's how it sounds to me...

Good luck...

I went with a Rinehart 2 into 1 on my 2013 Limited. I enjoy the sound quite a bit. It has a big 4" muffler. On my 2007 FLHX, I had dual 3.5" Rineharts and I liked them quite a bit as well. I've had luck with the Rineharts and if I wanted duals again, I'd go with the Rinehart 4" again.

If it about sound and/or looks go to bike shows/nights/gatherings and pick what ya like. Performance wise a 2-1-2 header from fuel moto (fullsac has an economy one that is ok if ya are poor) or a 2-1 from Drago/Rush are my choices. Also check out the lots of used pipes/mufflers out there.
