Default AVC cutting out at speed

I'm having an unusual issue with the AVC cutting out after 80 MPH. Need to state first that the setup on my bike is somewhat of a hybrid. I have an 02 Ultra but I installed a HK head unit. The install worked perfect. I re-pinned the harness as needed to work with the newer head unit. The radio allows for a change in signal input for AVC so no splicing was needed. The problem I'm having is once the bike gets over 80 MPH the adjusted volume sometime cuts in and out. I sent the radio to Iron Cross to add pre amp out installed for future amp. When contacted the suggested I might be over driving the stock amp. I have lowered AVC settings and it still cuts in and out. The problem only surfaces once speed tops 80, so I am inclined to think it is the signal input for speed. Anyone ever have a similar issue? If so could you resolve? As always, thanks.
