I have been thinking about taking my lowers off this summer and adding a second oil cooler and fan setup in line with the stock Harley one
2012 Street glide with lowers

and then taking it off in november and lowers go back on
It gets Hot here in the south

anyone ever done this?

I run two oil cooler, no fans. The one in front is a Jagg ten row and another Jagg vertical cooler mounted on the front leg. I never run the lowers and I made a leather cover to wrap the vertical with during cooler weather held on with Velcro. Engine stays nice and cool on the hottest days.

 

my oil temps are 25º cooler with fairing lowers on.

it gets hotter here in Phoenix

There is "at length" thread on this subject, just scroll down a little. And keep your lowers on, it will run cooler.
