your stock header pipe has a catalytic converter in it.
this is the bottleneck to flow- so you will likely see no net increase in flow or power increase with the cfr's
With just a change of mufflers- there will be no need to tune
the cat also acts to baffle noise- so you will not see a huge diff in sound with the cfrs
the reason most of us increase flow into and out of the motor is to get a power increase- about 7 to 10 horsepower if you remove the cat ( even with stock mufflers retained), add a hi flow air cleaner ( such as the ness big sucker)
...and then add tuning compensation of which there are a few different types- generally the more $ the more complex the device- and the more crucial the person adjusting the settings know what they are doing.
I use the nightrider.com xieds/vieds- about $120
de-catted header on ebay- $150
ness big sucker ( chrome backing plate version!) ebay from easternpc- $120
$400 and you have a stage 1 and that 7 to 10 HP additional reliable power gain, your fuel economy will likely drop about 1 mpg.
or you can just add the cfr's as you propose- you may not get much of a result out of the change though

Appreciate the input. I'm trying for better sound and as low cost as possible. I don't really want to get into a lot of money and mechanical changes. I've heard several horror stories about doing changes and the bike not performing right afterwards. I've listened to all kinds of videos and bikes at different places . I'm between the CFR and Rinehart right now. But as I take it, if I don't remove the cat and do an air upgrade the sound isn't going to change much. But if I opt for just pipes right now will I still have to have it tuned or mapped for the pipes? Thanks in advance for any input.

Headers, air intake, fuel manager
Ok, I've about change my mind on my exhaust. I'm considering Vance and hines power duals headers, arlan ness big sucker air intake. I already have Vance and hines twin slash rounds slip ons. I really would like some good input on a fuel manager. What would work best for my bike. I mostly ride with my wife and friends . I really want deep rumble sounds, extra power. I won't be racing, just want something that runs good. Don't want any mechanical issues because of the setup. Appreciate any help. I've been told so much that contradicts each other now I'm lost.
