Default trailer wiring questions and hopefully answers

i have a 2014 ultra limited. bought a aluma mct pull behind trailer. bought a rivco hitch, havent intallled yet. what do i need for wiring. seems like trailer is a 5 wire. has a round plug with 5 holes in it. lights are led on trailer. also previous owner of bike added led lights on saddle bags because he was going to put a quick detatch trunk kit in it. which he didnt do. wondering what harnesses i need to buy. so damn confusing. sure wouldnt think i need the isolator thing that hooks to battery. sure wouldnt think those leds on the trailer take too much juice????? any advice and wisdom would be appreciated.

This is the wiring I used for my 2014 Street Glide. There is an option for a 5 wire connector. Plug and play for everything but the battery connection. It was pretty straight forward and I do have the quick detach trunk kit. Since the Can-Bus system on the 14+ works as a 4 wire system I would think this would be the easiest way to get you going. I just got back from a 1200 mile road trip pulling my trailer with all of our camping gear and did not have any problem with the wiring. Good luck.

Yes. It required a fused positive connection and a ground directly to the battery. The wires had the rings on them so it was just a matter of taking the nut off of the battery and sticking the ring on and putting the nut back. I was able to reach the positive and negative terminals without taking anything besides the seat off.

You might want to pull the main fuse under the left side cover before connecting to the battery just to protect the ECM.
