I guess you don't just don't turn the pump but you most use a new o-ring

You don't have to remove the pump from the cam plate but it makes it a lot easier to re-install properly. No matter what, you'll at least have to loosen the oil pump bolts and align it upon re-assembly.

I linked in a post below this one a tool that makes changing the inner tensioner easy. You don't have to remove the cams from the plate. That said, I would change the inner cam bearings while I was in there.

I'm pushing my luck at around 30k but I'm a long ways from my shop for another year and
am thinking about doing a 95 CI upgrade when I get home. Just how much am I pushing my luck? Before I head back west I want to hit the coast from Maine to Florida and fill in the rest of my map.
