Switched to Michelin commanders, and so far I love them. I only have @ 1000 miles though. They seem to handle much better as well. The big test will be my "Run For The Wall" next May.

Got a friend that had a chunk of rubber about 2" round come out of the center of two different Metzler rear tires. Both tires had a lot of tread left on them.

I have Michelin Commander II's and they are the best tires I have ever ran. Most of my friends are all now using them and feel the same.

Avon Cobra on the rear and Michelin Commander on the front because Avon doen not make a 19" tire to fit the front. I felt the difference immediately over the stock Dunlops with 13000 miles on 'em. Quieter, smoother, and I could feel the rear tire doing it's job on tight turns. The mileage may not equal the Dunlops, but that is not the number one factor in tires, at least not for me.
C'mon Avon, gimme a Cobra for my front!!

2013 Street Glide.... 20,000 on original Dunlop. got an American Elite and had it installed with Ride-On. so far so good.... hellacious rain storm last night on my way home.... no issues, no foul feelings. I am happy! Had the Metzler 880's on my Sporty... loved those. best mileage was little over 12k. Hoping for 15k on this one.
seriously consider the Ride-On. I'll never go without....

Real world experience - I LOVE the 888s.. I had them on my old HSTC and I have them on my 05 WG. But get this and I cant believe im even saying this.... I actually like the dual compound tires that are stock on the new touring bikes. I have an 15RK and was expecting to change the stock tires immediately.. I actually like them..

I ran Avon Venom X's for years but was getting crappy mileage & my buddy suggested Dunlop Elite 3's. I hated the stock Dunlop's so was hesitant but finally relented. Best thing I ever did. The Dunlop Elite 3's handle great are cheaper & I get triple the mileage of the Avons. I got over 28,000 miles on the front & just under 15,500 on the rear on my last set of Elite 3's. I love the Elite 3 tire.
PS I check tire pressure weekly & run 40 psi in front & 42 psi in the rear per Dunlops website. H-D recommended pressures are to low.

I just put a set of 888's on my RKC. They seem to handle fine and give a decent ride. They were cheaper than the American Elites with a better rebate. I would have considered the Michelins if the had White Walls.
