Whoa!
Just returned from a 1,300 mile road trip and jacked the SG up to clean and found my rear tire looking like this. It's a Metzeler 880 17" 200 rear and got about 11,000 miles on it. First of all, praying and luck was with me on this ride because that tire wasn't in that condition when I started this ride. 100* temps and those grooved highways didn't help. Now, the question is....should I stick with Metz or go another brand?

You had an Angel along on that ride
My boy took off on 1100 mi rode trip last year on a set of Metzeler 880.
We replaced a voltage reg and looked the bike over before the trip.
I told the back tire ain't terrible but figure on getting one soon.
He rolled back in from thee trip and went inside to get a drink and cool off a little. When he went back out to unload the bags and put the bike up.
His rear tire was flat and looked just about like yours.
A local Indy says he quite selling them for now , he has a stack of them out back that have thrown chunks and cord showing like yours or my boys. a
Never ran Metz's but haven't had any trouble out of MCII on both my bikes.
The boy went with some E3s and likes them
