The exhaust on my Limited is stock, and will probably stay that way.
I live in a condo complex that has a lot of elderly people living there. Most of them are very nice, talking to them one-on-one, but they do like to complain. I try very hard to not be obnoxious with the throttle and just idle in and out. So far, none have complained about the bike.
It's been my understanding that the majority of exhaust systems out there dont really give much of a 'real' performance gain, it's mostly noise... that cool rumble and bark.
Lastly, there is zero added value when you go to sell your 'upgraded' Harley. Got the latest and greatest high-dollar V&H or Screaming Eagle pipes on your ride? It's worth pretty much the same as that other guy's stock bike. My Dyna had SE II pipes and a Big Sucker intake. Little, if any performance gain. If I'd have been a little more ambitious, I would have put the stock muffs back on when I sold it. I know I would've gotten the same price.
I'll upgrade the suspension system with some Ohlin shocks before I spend money making it sound impressive. This one gets in a 'sweet spot' at about 2600 rpm around 70-75 and just eats up the miles. It's performance is just fine for me.

I ride a bike everyday and stay in hotels, Marriott and Hilton, every week. A stock exhaust on my Sportster and Dyna make them easier to blend in and go unnoticed when leaving the parking garage at 5am. My Roadking has a Vance&Hines and although it has more bark and rumble, it is fairly similar in volume at idle.
