Price is simple supply demand and your relationship with the dealer. The 17's will be well received for the most part. Just like the gloom and doom of the first wetheads no one will buy them was the chant. Well they were wrong. Dealers already know a list of regular customers they are likely to buy the 2017's. You can also bet if there is a really cool 2016 Ultra or RGU sitting there today one of the customers has already said if it still here on this date call me.
When you wait till the next model year hoping to save a lot, you risk having to except a color or options you may not have had as a first option.

I agree with wait till the 17's hit the floor. You will get a better deal on a leftover 16. If there are motor changes coming on the 17's like I hear it would be best to avoid a new 17. Let others be the guinea pigs. Lots of leak issues the first year the wet heads came out and they seemed to fix it the next year.

Default Vivid Black

That reminds me of what Henry Ford said, "You can have a car in any color you want, just as long as you want a black one."

So far I have had purple and dragon fly green. Black would be a big change. I would no longer have people asking me what color it was.

Thanks
Emil

How bad do you want a new bike? There are a bunch of garage queen 15 and 16s that the owner wants to buy a 17. With a little effort, you might be able to steal one of those. You know trade I will suck for them.

Not a fair comparison, but I recently got a 14 Road King from a dealer in FL. Dealer wanted to give me $4k for my 07 FXD. So did a local dealer when I was BSing with them. Sold it private for $5.7k. That guy got a good deal, and I got way more than trade with a little effort. Some guy out there wants a 17 but does not want to take a bath on his 16.

Patience is your friend - Next week you are going to see a bunch of used bikes sitting on the dealers floor, some with very few miles!!
