Default New Oil Leak

I've put about 1200 miles on the bike since I got it a few weeks ago, and since they fixed the first oil leak which was at the o rink at the speed sensor. I noticed a smell again last night, found oil residue this time directly beneath the chrome cover with "six speed" printed on it. Is this a common place, is there something I can troubleshoot without going back to the dealer?

Check the bolts that hold the exhaust bracket to the transmission.

Check the transmission vent for obstruction. The leak could also be from around the clutch cable - check the 'o' ring

Dont have my book right now, but what should the torque be on the two exhaust bracket bolts that attach to the transmission?

I checked the two bolts where the exhaust bolts to the transmission, they were quite loose. One I could almost have unscrewed with my finger. I hope that nails it.

Thats a common problem on the touring bikes... the bolts holding the outer case to the inner loosen and must be retightened periodically.. particularly the two with the exhaust bracket. I recommend removing them, cleaning them off, apply loctite and retorque all. Depending on your exhaust system (if mod), you may be able to do that without removing the exhaust. After a retorquing, you should be good for another few years in my experience.

Harley just spent $975 under my ESP fixing oil leaks. They replaced the compensator with A SE one while they had the primary off. 2012 Ultra Classic TG.

So I tightened the bolts that attach the exhaust to the transmission, and yes they were loose, but I am still getting seepage even after tightening as much as I could. Any other suggestions?
