Default Stereo for Road King?

I'll be picking up a 2004 Road King very soon. I was riding an Ultra and know I will miss the stereo. What options are there for the Road King that are decent (short of adding a fairing). I've seen the Boom system from HD, but that is beyond my budget right now. Ideas? Links to products?

A friend of mine got one of these http://www.jpcycles.com/product/164-096 and loves it. You do need a windshield for it. He says he can hear it clearly up to 80mph

For my RK, I had speakers in the lower fairings. I purchased the CVO speaker boxes for the lower fairings. I totally the RK before I got to put in speakers in the saddlebag lids.

I have the Reckless Motorcycles Rockhoodz on my Road King. Love it.

It does cost a bit more than Harley's Boom™ system, but it's far better. Bluetooth, USB connectivity, AM/FM radio, auxiliary input, and a 12-volt charging port.

I'm gonna do speakers in the lowers and speaker lids when I get to that part of the customization. Powder coat and motor first!

I have dealt with this guy on a number of purchases, and have heard this unit first hand. It's much cheaper than the Rockhoodz, and sounds fantastic. I have never done a side by side with the other units mentioned, but the sound is on par with any number of stock Ultras that were nearby. 300 bucks and your rockin' the King. This exact unit is on my bucket list.

Or if you have a stereo and speakers from a car laying around, just buy the box and put that stuff in it.

I bought a BOSS AUDIO MC500 Chrome 600 watt sound system on Amazon $75. Very small. I hid mine under the front baffle. Speakers mount to the windshield or crash bar. Has radio tuner or SD Card that I downloaded 400 songs on that plugs into the system. Travel the highways here in AZ and can hear it perfectly. People turn their heads when I'm near them....so I know its loud.

Do you wear a helmet? I use the Sena and stream Bluetooth from my phone. keeps the bike clean and if you really want too, you can answer your phone.
