New guy here.. help with my purchase of bags & fender
Okay I purchased a 2013 Street Glide. I'm wanting to put 5" lower bags and a fender to match it. I understand this is a form and everyone is going to have an opinion. Please be easy. Of course I am looking on eBay and that it is the cheapest place to find a 5 inch drop bag With speaker lids and fender. Can someone please explain to me what is the better option. An overlay fender on a replacement fender. I have read some good stories and bad stories about purchasing on eBay. If you do not wish to get beat up on this thread, about your experience with eBay bags please pm. I will understand. I am going to tear this bike down this fall and would like to start purchasing stuff now. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you

Picked up 4" bags from CBC biker club on Amazon, got speaker lids and lowers from Hogtunes. Decent prices and ok product, haven't painted them yet, waiting for winter, enjoying the ride! eBay is good also, at least there is some sort of security on there now, 15 years ago there really wasn't!! Good luck, I hunted for 3 weeks for deciding on my stuff!!!

My bags are 5" from Fairing Factory. My fender is just an overlay. Stock fender's still on the bike. It's been 2 years, and I haven't ever had an issue with them. Got the fender cover from Gator Boxes. Contact Bagger Bill, the owner. It was only $375 shipped (but needed to be painted) as opposed to $1200 for an actual rear fender. I bought the bags without lids, and used the lids from my stock bags.

It's probably best to stick with the same manufacturer (bags and fender) if you want the best chance of having the bag and fender cutouts line up. Also, many of the fender covers don't play that well with your docked accessories. If you go the cover route, make sure you see a picture before hand with docking hardware installed. I've seen a couple that looked like someone made cutouts for the hardware with a dremel tool.

I was actually thinking the same thing. I would hate to purchase the bags and the fenders the lines in the back not lined up properly. I am not saying I want to go the cheapest route because I know what you get what you pay for. But I also do not want to spend $3,000 on a set of bags and a fender
