If I was buying a Road King I would either buy a older one with Carb or a 09 up newer. Advantages to both. Depending on your budget. Just my opinion based on experience.

Don't buy one. It's a money pit. You'll end up spending more in accessories and upgrades than what you'll pay for the bike itself.

I too went from a Sporty to a King, but I kept my Sporty also. It's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I have an 03 Anniversary Classic RK and I love it. Ive owned Ironhead Sportsters, Electroglides shovels. Loved those bikes but that King is KING for a reason. Try it and try not to smile...just try.

I can't do it. I have been re-thinking my position and must admit, you are in the perfect position already. Better gas mileage, classic single person riding and you get to feel every bump on the road during your journey. Why pay for something that gets worse gas mileage, has classic Harley looks, can convert from an around town trucker to an open road cruiser in minutes? Plus, who gives a damn that you actually get a real 2-up seat and can pack enough on the bike to go on a long weekend on a RK? Save your money and invest in a Prius instead.

It's the best motorcycle EVER!!!! It really is the Road KING! And those that have pointed out that you only YOLO once are absolutely right. Life's just too darn short not to own a Road King...

Spend some time leafing thru the Road King Picture Thread! :-)

If you could only have one HD, the RK is the best. IMO they typically handle better than the batwing or the boston whaler. They come with a windshield. They are comfortable enough that you can put 500 miles on it in a day yet still use it to carry stuff you needed to go pick up.. I got an 02 with a high compression 95 ci motors, it handles better than any of them except for the lighter HDs that are set up to handle..
