I loved my old sporty but the wife to be hated it and put a down payment on a new road King. Figured I'd go along and ride it when she wanted to come along... sold my sporty not long after... That was in 1994...

It is easy to tell someone to spend their money. If you're asking for someone to talk you out of it, maybe not the right time ... When your gut and your head line up, no one can talk you out of it.

If the passenger is not happy, you will not be happy.
On a Sportster, She is probably wedged back there on a narrow azz banana seat with foot pegs as She sits upright like a stick of wood thinking "I just want to stop and get off this dam thing."
On a Road King, Her tush is comforted by a big ole' comfy seat and back rest, feet resting on foot boards, plenty of places to stow those girly things She likes to keep near, as She presses the double D's against your back and enjoys the ride, wanting to ride on, and both of you exchange pleasantries as you set the cruise control and rub a dub on Her leg.
Road Kings are known to produce miles of smiles. That's probably why they come with windshields - to help keep the bugs out of the teeth of the riders!
Yep, all is well when the green 6 is lit...

You are on the wrong forum if you think a bunch of HD owners are going to talk you out of the purchase of a new bike. We are glad to spend your money.

Maybe you should go ask the Indian or Victory guys what they think.

Seriously, you can't go wrong with a RK.

Too many negatives to owning a RK (Classic in my case)
You will want to ride it day and night...
When you are not ridding it, you find yourself dreaming about riding it... Heck, when you are riding it you dream about riding it.
You'll spend too much time (and money) searching for and buying chrome and other accesiries for it, which once installed, will cause you to want to stare at it for hours...
its really not worth it, too much fun and joy! Don't buy it, you'll regret it.

If bags are an issue be sure to compare the classic and special. The only real difference. I like my special.

No I never called yesterday and my dealer is closed on Sunday. Also on the post about Victory's and Indians thats what most of our little riding group ride. My one friend who just bought an Indian Springfield in the spring and I switched rides for awhile a couple weeks ago man it was smooth and comfortable. So that ride was the reason I took a couple demo rides and while the Springfield is a real nice bike its just not a Harley when I got on the Road King I just felt like this is the one.

Okay, don't buy it. Buy an epitome of the touring line (a fairing bike, either batwing or sharknose). The RK looks like a stripped theft, has no radio and all of the other goodies the fairing bikes do!
