I have two Corbins, both with leather seating areas. One is only a few years old, the other about 15 years old. What's with this treating stuff?! I've done it occasionally, but they are both fine - luv 'em!

 

For those with the solo seat, what size pillion did you go with?

 

Have had 5 corbins over the years, all leather. They hold up great! For me, much more comfortable and cooler than vinyl. I clean em occassionally and treat the leather about once a year. Only downside to the leather is the seat will soak up water so remove the seat before you wash and bring a rain cover for wet nights while you're on trips.

 

I probably got about sixty thousand miles out of my Corbin leather seat. It was well worn and badly needed recovering plus when it got wet it just soaked up the water.


I had the seat recovered in automotive grade vinyl and like it much better. Shows no. wear and I've got over a hundred thousand miles on the bike now and when it sits in the rain I just wipe the water off and its dry, much better than the leather.

 

Did you have the seat recovered by Corbin? When I spoke to Corbin they highly discouraged vinyl, but all I have ever had is vinyl. So I'm not sure if they're just against vinyl or if the vinyl they use is not that high quality. I had a Mustang seat before and I thought their vinyl was top notch, just didn't find the seat comfortable.

 

I have had a mustang vintage touring for 8 yrs now and the vinyl still looks good but its a hot ride , bought a corbin this year and wow it is much cooler and rides much better leather is the way to go IMO

 

I use a leather dressing that HD sells, I find it cheap at swap meets. My guess is it's used for leather bags. It's kind of like a yellow vasoline.

 

LEATHER..... vinyl is cheap...companies use it because its cheap... Mustang tells u its better ,,,its not....they use vinyl for seats in nice cars? no because its cheap...the vinyl will give out and crack long before a nice leather seat.....leather will breath better and be more comfortable too..... Vinyl was invented as a cheap substitute for LEATHER .... thats what it is ,a cheap substitute

I had mine recovered by a local auto upholstery guy. He recovered the seat and p-pad and added some extra padding to the p-pad for the ol lady. Best I can remember he charged one seventy five and did a fine job. Think Corbin wanted three fifty at the time plus shipping.
