Default CB, can it be heard thru speakers?

Attempted to use the CB on my 08 E-Glide Ultra for the 1st time last weekend. It seems to work and all is well as long as you have on the head set. I thought you could hear it through the speakers by setting that "speaker" switch to one of its 3 settings but I tried all 3 positions and...nuthin. Shouldn't it be listenable on the speakers? It is on the newer ones.

Not a big deal, just curious if it is designed to be heard thru the stock HK sound system speakers. I'm guessing "YES" but not certain.

Thanks.

Here's how the speaker switch works from the 2008 Touring Owner's Manual. And the answer to your question is that you should be able to hear the CB thru the speakers if the speaker switch is in the correct position.

Thank you very much. Mine is defective. Speaker operation is not functional. Maybe the radio, maybe the switch? Who knows?

Could be that my memory is lapsing but I seem to remember that I could use a hand held microphone on my 2000 Ultra and get CB audio through the speakers.

I can't remember the last time I've seen one being used on a H-D and it's possible that the system is no longer wired to allow it.

The handheld mic for the CB worked thru the 2013 models. You could listen to the CB on the speakers and use the mic to transmit.
Things changed with the 2014 models. The handheld mic will still work but you must depress the switch on the mic AND press the PTT switch on the handlebars to transmit on the CB. You can however use the handheld mic for the Intercom, Voice Commands for the Nav, Radio, and Phone, and to have a conversation over a linked phone. The PTT switch is just needed for CB transmission.

As for setting the CB speaker volume, I would set the switch to speakers, then turn the squelch all the way down which will usually cause the radio to go into CB mode. While the radio is in CB mode you can then set the CB speaker volume.

The fairing cap switch controls the speakers or headset function and if it's not working properly when changing then position then it might be defective which is common. Can't remember exactly but think holding PTT button in and adjust the volume .

Th CB has separate volume control, when switch is pressed in toward you, you should not hear over the headset (if you are, there is a problem). You can adjust the volume when you know you are receiving a transmission or go to the set up menu for the CB and adjust the volume there - it might be that it is muted but I thought that would mute it in the headset as well when switch is other positions. Just thoughts

Input much appreciated everybody. I figured out the volume settings for the CB being separate from the radio etc while I was on the road. But, when we stopped I adjusted it up. It nearly blew my brains out on the head set. Very loud, but when my buddy was testing...1...2...3ing me there was nuthing but crickets thru the speakers.....and I moved the switch to all positions and re-checked.

Now, if there is separate volume control settings for the CB speaker mode and the CB head-set mode I missed that. Hard to imagine there would be but you never know.

Many thanks everybody.
