Default Wheeldock Ez-Up center stand- modifications

I love the Ez-Up- it is great.

but...with stock shocks on my 09, the rear wheel didn;t get enough traction to ride off on smoooth concrete- I was fine on asphalt.

I traded some emails with Wheeldock and they suggested that a worn tire, shock bushings or even air pressure ( tire and shock) could be at issue.

I looked at everything and it all checked out ( newer tire)- so I ground about .030" off the feet/pads to get the traction I wanted on smooth concrete.

then...I got a great deal on hand adjustable shocks- which are longer than the "13's" I took off.

Now when parking the center stand didn;t really contact the ground positively- the bike could wobble when I pressed on the bars.

oops, some idiots ground .030" off the pads

so I pulled the stand off ( 1 bolt) and drilled and tapped the feet/ pads for a 10/32 machine screw. the screw has a domed panhead, so now I can adjust how high the stand lifts the bike.
This could come in handy for compensating as the tire wears

all fixed. Love the ez-up !

A suggestion for you, make sure you are using Grade 5 or better yet, Grade 8 hardware or with the weight and jerk when setting the stand, the head will be ripped off. These EZUP stands are funny. I've had them on several ultras and they all seem to have varying levels of effort to set them. But I do like them.

What about running the bolts through the opposite direction and letting the threaded end come into contact with the pavement? Might make removal easier when you do have to change them out. Just a thought.

I'd though t about that, but that places the weight on the threads- the steel is soft so the threads would likely tear out

using screws which are essentially sacrificial I can remove and replace easily- small washers could be used to increase height if needed

I would guess that I am at about +.040" over stock length- having made up for the .030" I'd ground off- ---total .070"

Do the MoCo or aftermarket make a front-mounted ride-off display stand still? Gets around the problem you mention, on my older bike.

GR, if you have not seen the ezup- it is pretty good.

does everything they promise

They would do well to change to feets like the stand you mention though.
that would have taken care of my concerns and could possibly do the 12" models as well.
