Angry Lubing Cables

So I figured today would be a good day to do some routine maintenance. Got everything ready to lube my throttle cables and clutch cable on my bobber. Throttle cables went seamless. Adjusted the clutch cable up to loosen it, since this is an open primary, I also loosened the clutch adjustment screw to give me more slack to get the clutch lever off. Done it this way many times. So, I attach my little handy dandy cable lubber to the cable, shoot some cable lube in it and let it sit for a few minutes. Shot some more lube in and removed the handy dandy cable lubber. Well, I obviously pushed the cable in just a shade to dam far and it disconnected from the throw out bearing. GRRRRRRR Now I have to pul the exhaust, drain the transmission, pull the cover just to reattach the dam cable.

Rant over. Back to work.

you can often reset the ball and ramps just by working the lever and tightening the cable adjuster in steps.

if you think you have to open it...

cut off a piece of a 1/4" allen or use a 1/4" screwdriver bit butt end tp loosen the 2 lower bolts, just loosen, don;t remove-yet.
crack the other bolts loose.

now, roll your bike up on a 2x4 and put it on the jiffy stand-check that the bike is stable.

now you can remove the side cover and yu shouldn;t loose any fluid- the end cover can usually be snaked out with the header in place.

do your fix and button up.

the torque value is 25 ft lbs...do the all the bolts finger tight- now use a torque wrench to get all the easy bolts to 22 ft lbs.

use your 1/4" tool to tighten a little further...now that you have a feel for 25 ft lbs, do the 2 bottom bolts.

done.
