Default 04 FLHTP and radio

Hello everyone, I just recently purchased an 04 flhtp and I want to install a radio and oil pressure gauge. I've read that I have to buy a different harness. I would like to get more info on this if possible.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forums stand by for advice...

there is also an audio section, but watch out, they'll spend all your money!

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/audio-systems-153/

easy to get some 6.5" speakers with adapter rings and a headunit- if you don;t need bar controls life can be alot easier and cheaper.

look at something like a kenwood KDC series...about $120
infinity kappa speakers- $100
adapter rings- $20

otherwise biketronics- but you'd have to do alot of changes removing the cop bar controls etc.

power is easy to find under the fairing

think about getting the factory shop manual it has wiring diagrams, but the cop bike has wiring only detailed in the cap bike supplement

retiredpolicebikes.com is good too

thanks for the info bud, I've just been searching and reading about this topic but I've seen different answers. I'm not really worried about the hand controls. I'll give that site a look as well.

Thanks

I just did the kappas and rings for my 09 FLHTC ( replacing J&M speakers) here's links to what I used on amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I shopped one of these kenwoods for my truck- works with ipod or mp3s on thumb drive

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...A26KQ3RT22GS9P

refurb version $80

as for mounting Guys with cop bikes or the FLHT standard model ( a no radio model) who have added radios can help with mount questions

I ordered a complete kit from Biketronics for my FLHT and honestly had no problems installing it. I just dedicated a day to it and it only ended up taking a few hours. They supplied everything.

if you're not worried about hand controls, then its a really easy job.

1) bolt stereo into fairing using a mounting kit
2) run a power wire to your battery (have an in line fuse on it)
3) hook up the switched power wire to your cigarette lighter wire
4)ground wire to the frame (triple tree has a few available spots)
5) install speakers (get 6.5" adapters) and connect to head unit
6)???
7) Profit
