Fog-spot lights custom
Does anybody have any custom spot or fog lights ? I have often thought about using the factory turn signals and putting some type of LED spot light in those. I was even thinking about using the front upper fork cover and mounting some lights in those . I would like to keep the lights discreet and not just bolts on some aftermarket ones . If anyone have anything custom would like to share please do .

A few years back, I put a custom set on my Road Glide Ultra. I just did another set for my daughter's Sporty a week ago. Both were built using old Dyna turn signal housings.
I have had this set up on my Road Glide for a little over 2 years and have had no trouble with it. I use the Aux switch to run them so they are switchable. My daughter wanted hers to run all the time, so I hooked them up to the switched power inside the headlight bucket. On her bike that is the orange/white wire. It is switched by the ignition switch and is powered on in both the IGN and ACC positions.
Originally I was going to mount them on her forks using turn signal relocator mounts, but they looked horrid there. My daughter couldn't stand that look.
So I started to think outside the box again. I like the new location and my daughter really likes how tight they mounted. It really fits her bike without screwing up the lines.
For her lights, I used the Kobi Electric Cool White 5000K LED lights. They use an MR16 GU5.3 configuration. They are equal to a 50W halogen, but since they are LED, they only draw 6W at 12vdc. LINK
You will also want a pair of sockets to plug the lights into. LINK
I used a pair of Dyna turn signals, gutted them and kept the rubber piece and the rubber strain relief. There is some metal ribbing inside the turn signal that will need to be ground down so the lights will fit, but after that is done, you just trim the original rubber piece to fit the LED bulb. You will need to trim out the center.
Wire the sockets with long enough wires to reach whatever power source you will use to run them, run these wires through the rubber strain relief and insert that into the turn signal housing. place the trimmed rubber piece around the LED bulb, and insert that into the housing. Once that is firmly seated, add the clear lense cover (HD P/N 67800644)
Use the turn signal swivel mount (you will need 2 - 1 for each light) to mount the light to your bike. Use the swivel to adjust where the light is pointed once they are hooked up and functional.

I have a pair of Kuryakyn Frame Mounted Driving lights that I modified to be fork mounted. I took some 1" x 1/8" flat steel, measured and drilled to bolt up using the front fender mounts and then painted satin black to match my fork lowers. They work great and with my JW Speaker headlight make a nice triangle of light that is very visible both day and night. They do a great job of filling in the dead space at night that the low beam doesn't cover.
