If I start shifting around 5k, I should get a better time.
I think the optimal shift point is just a few hundred rpm beyond your max hp, depending on your rpm drop between gears. have a look at your dyno sheet, it will give you a good idea where you should be grabbing gears. might have to bump your rev limiter up a bit if it's set at 6K. would be pretty cool for a bike with apes to break into the 11's, get er done man!

I agree with t.sawyer, a stick car tire will put more rubber on the track and better traction.

It's difficult to tell from the video but did you launch from the middle of the lane where it might be slick or from the left side of the lane where the sticky rubber may be?

Too bad changing handlebars is such a hassle, ape-hangers turn riders into great big barn doors.

nah, I actually launched from the left tire tread of where the cars where....

They usually have the track prepped with that sticky stuff for better traction. Sitting on the bike with my feet down, feels like I'm standing where someone has spilled a sticky Coke or something, or I stepped in gum. This last Friday, it wasn't sticky like normal, the whole track was slicker. People were breaking loose right and left.

Maybe this Friday I'll make it....

and yeah, the Apes make me like a parachute lol - but, when I finally make it, it'll be an aped bagger in the 11's

If you are warming up a street tire before the race, don't.
