Default Road King. 2016? Or 2017?

So, I am looking at buying a Road King. A new, black 2017. No extras, or a two tone White and Blue 2016 with 5000 miles on it. My wife really loves the colors of the 2016. It also has a few extras, wire wheels, white walls back rest, ABS. I can get either first the same price. What do you folks think?

The only reason I'd go for the 2016 was if it was the only one of the two with ABS.
ABS > M8.

That said, an M8 with ABS would be my goal.

Wink

Someone else has a similar problem they are wrestling with, worth looking in on here. I reckon a secondhand '16 bike should be significantly less than a brand spanking shiney new '17.

The used bike is cheaper than the new one, but they won't give me quite as much for my trade. I get more for the trade on the new bike, but with the higher cost, they work out to almost the same. The used bike is still just a bit cheaper, but only a couple hundred dollars.

I'm not sure what your weather is like at present, but from what I've read elsewhere I suspect your wife will prefer the ride of the '17. That may just trump a lick of paint!

Unfortunately, test rides in ND in January are a no go.

That used RK would have to be a whole lot cheaper for me to consider it. Not a good deal. Buy the 17.

That makes no sense to me. They always tell you that the extra's you put on a bike do nothing to increase its value. I bet that's what they told the guy that traded it in.

So why would they be the same price? Your trade in price should be the same regardless which bike you buy so that tells you they are playing funny business with the numbers to show the money where they want it.

If you like the 2016, I'd tell them to give you the same trade in price that they are willing to give you on the 17 and you'd consider it.

A used bike with 5,000 miles on it should never end up the same price as a new one of the same model.

I hate buying vehicles, bikes or cars. I always feel dirty and used afterwards.

Good luck!

The difference is that the new bike and the used bike are at two different dealerships. The new one is at a Harley dealership on ND and the used bike is at a Indian dealership in SD.
