Default engine tick...I was told valves need adjusted after heads replaced (new to me)

Ok, finally made the trade and got my Harley.

Ended up getting a 2010 Street Glide.
The heads have been replaced with heads from a 103
There is a 'tick' that I would normally think of as a valve tick.
I was TOLD that the heads were done about 900 miles ago and he was told to live with the tick till about 1500 miles and then adjust them, and all should be good.

My question is....I thought valves in these didnt need adjusted (hydraulic)...so now I am wondering if there is something else I didnt think about?

Harley valvetrains are notoriously noisy. The solution above will alleviate about 90% of the noise. You are correct in that there is no adjustment on the valves themselves.

Sounds like you need an amp for the stereo or louder pipes. I went with both options.

There is plenty of praise here on the forum for the rock outs to help quiet it. The noise wont hurt anything. To some it's an annoying sewing machine, to other's it's mechanical music.

Seems to be a built in noise that MOCO won't address due to the amount of money it would cost to remedy the situation on the number of bikes affected.

While the "Rockout" may sound like a sales picth it definitely works. Do you find your ticking to be more prominent it the 2,000 rpm range? If so the Rockout Kit will definitely help/resolve tour noise.

Although I agree with the posts above that the Rockouts will quiet down the infamous Harley ticking (I installed them on my 107). I would be worried about that statement

This implies he didn't have the noise before and someone was telling him to adjust them.
Are you sure you don't also have different cams and possibly adjustable pushrods in that motor?

and possibly adjustable pushrods in that motor? ... A definite possibility. It only takes a few to check. I too agree with the "run it" statement ... kind of un-nerving

I am more inclined to think this guy had the heads replaced and when he did, noticed the sound.....and is using the "have them adjusted at 1500 miles" because he wasnt smart enough to just know sometimes Harleys have a tick. He was not a Harley guy, and until this week I wasnt either. I was more afraid if I got myself conned into someones big problem. The sound isnt a big deal to me...I am not going to worry about it.
