If you have to ask...
check and see if your local community college has auto body classes
even once learned there is a real talent to learning by feel how to work material for a great finished effect.
although I took classes and understand the "how"...I don;t have the talent and defer to a pro for smoothing and paint..except for wrinkle black

If your sanding to paint and they are clean use 600 grit and take all the shine off. You will not need any primer or sealer. If they are rough and full of scratches start with 180 and work up to 320. You will have to prime them in this case. After primer use 600. If you send me photos I can tell you exactly what is needed.

Thanks for the info I have done some sanding on other parts like inner fairing just wasnt sure on sand paper and minor thiings but I have some scratches and had some deep scratches due to the box falling off going down the highway I did do some sanding and looks like I got scratches out usiing 220 then went to 320 going to go over all of it again tomorrow since getting late Thanks for all the replys

glad i'm not the only one. i can't stand it, and will be repainting next fall.
