If you are going to change to smoke the just go with LED inserts the color you need.
Amber for front Red for rear. You win all the way around.

I don't know how it would look with everything smoked except those two things.
Smoke lenses, along with led replacements, are available for pretty much every light harley ever used. Google is your friend.

in the rear, turn signals can be either amber or red. brakes must be red. so if you add a module to make your turns flash with your brakes, you have to switch the lenses to red ones. (or smoke with red bulbs)

Smoke lens are far from illegal as they light up the correct color when running.
HD sells tons of smoked lenses and they would not if they were illegal.

Hell the CVO's come with smoked out LEDS!

I did clear in the front and smoked in the back. I need to add amber leds to get rid of the orange look. Still thinking of adding red to the back.

I have smoked lenses also but I went a step further. I painted the inside housing of the turn signals a dark gray color. When the bike is parked they look blacked out. have amber bulbs in front and red bulbs in the rear (run brake and turn module for the rear) No issues on the brightness but looks killer otherwise. Have done this to every bike I have had with smoked lenses.

I left my passing lamps clear and added the velcro attached lens covers from Cee Bailey. I can change them back to clear in 10 seconds.

Not sure what year you have, but I had to replace the entire fender tip light with a smoked LED unit. I have a '13 and the cover is not removable.

Try something like this. The one I have also has the amber blinkers built in.
