Default I'm new to RK models - wheel swap question

I just bought a 2012 RKC from a private seller. Smoking deal BTW. So it has spoke wheels and the tires are fair, but I was planning on new tires pretty soon anyway. I have the opportunity to buy a set of brand new, never on the road set of tires and wheels. These were originally taken off of a 2015 RK. Dunlop tires and Impeller wheels, no rotors, but does have the rear pulley. Now the question. What am I getting myself into when I go to swap them? I am by no means a novice to working on bikes, just not familiar with RKs.

BTW the price for the set is about the price of one rear tire. That's why it's so tempting.

Thanks in advance.

Here's a wheel and tire chart. Pretty sure both years are 16x3 wheels with a 180 tire.

If both bikes are with or without ABS, direct swap. If one has and the other does not, you'll just need to replace the bearings with correct ones for your bike.

Rotors from the impellar wheels should be the same and bolt right on. <- Edit. Nope, they do use the newer style rotor.

The back wheel should be a direct bolt on given the abs or non abs options. The back is a 16x5 or 16x5.5. Not sure which. The front is a 17x3.5. You will need 2014 or newer front rotors from a touring model. The bolt pattern is much larger than the 2013 and down. I can send some pictures if you want. But it will work and I believe look much better than stock spokes.

Ok, I've got ask, because this comes up more than I would ever think...

Have you seen that front "Impeller"? The rotors and BHC (bolt hole circle) are not even close "Visually" to a STD Hub Mounted rotor (yours).

Seriously, I'm just trying to get a handle on why that comes up...no offense intended

This is why I told the OP he would need rotors from a 2014 or newer touring model to use the Impeller wheels. It's obvious from just a visual standpoint that the older rotors won't fit. But with so many going to 21" front wheels used rotors should be readily available.

Yes, that's why I made no comment about fitment...it was already covered.

And actually, now that I look further, the OP didn't ask specifically, but it has been asked many times before, so it's not-so-obvious to some.

I actually like the look of the newer rotors. Seems to open up the appearance of the wheel.

Congrats on the King. All you need is the front floating rotors ,to know if the bearings are or are not ABS then buy the correct bearings if needed. The rotor and cush drive can be transferred from your stock rear wheel to the rear impeller. The impeller wheels look great on a RK.
