The advice you got may have been a bum steer? I would have perhaps advised to get a Vance and Hines Fuel Pak 3 and use the 'auto-tune' facility if the setup of your bike wasn't available already?
I am no expert but surmise the Power Commander doesn't offer the 'auto-tune' option?

Slip-ons shouldn't mess up how your bike runs, did you change the headers also?

Popping on closed throttle is 99 times out a 100 down to a poor seal in the exhaust system, allowing air back into the system and igniting. Make sure the headers are tightened to spec, and if you used the old muffler clamps on the slip ons, get a new set. They are a one time use item.

A smear of copper grease on the muffler to header join helps 2 ways. Easier to remove next time around and helps to seal.

First, you should post questions about softails in the Softail section.

Second, is an 02 fxst even fuel injected? Mine is a 2000 and has a carb. I believe the fuel injected model would be the fxsti.

Double check the torque settings on the clamp that attaches the slipons to the header. Did you use a new clamp? They are supposed to be one time use, though some can get more than one use from them.

Did you have to fight to get the old mufflers off? If you did, maybe you moved the pipes at the heads, and ruined the gaskets.
